Abbo's Alley (Univ. of the South)
Take a stroll in Abbo's Alley, an easy-to-walk and carefully tended ravine garden. The flora is a combination of cultivated and indigenous trees, shrubs and plants with the emphasis on keeping the natural flow of the land.
Coalmont OHV Park
This new off-road park will offer over 1,300 acres of off-road trails with varied wooded terrain for all vehicle types and skill levels. A large unloading area, vehicle wash station, parking lot, restrooms, picnic area and primitive camping will be available on-site. RV sites with 5/30 amp and 16/50 amp service will also be on-site, with water and available dump station. The park’s anticipated opening will be in the fall of 2022. Please check back for updates!

Grundy County Historical Society & Museum
Free entry. Includes a running miniature replica of the Mountain Goat Railroad that carried coal and passengers over the Cumberland Plateau and real taxidermy wolf.

Nestled in the woods atop Monteagle Mountain in Tennessee is a sweet little cabin store full of pottery and handmade gifts. Full Circle Candles and Hallelujah Pottery are a joint effort for our community.

Historic Stoker-Stampfli Farm & Museum
The Historic Stoker-Stampfli Farm tells the story of Swiss immigrants who came to the this area in the mid-1800s. The farmhouse, farm buildings and museum are all available to tour by appointment. All tours are free, but donations to maintain and restore the farm’s buildings are gratefully accepted.
Laurie Museum & Archives
The Museum Collection contains a wide array of unique and interesting objects donated to the university and collected by the Archives. Often used in exhibits and research, these items lend a striking visual component to our holdings and serve to put many of our print and manuscript collections in their historical context.

The Caverns - Cave Tours
EXPLORE THE CAVERNS!
The Caverns offers daily cave tours that include one of the largest underground rooms in the world at over 3 football fields long and a behind-the-scenes tour of the music venue. Walking tours of these otherworldly caves entwine the unique history of Grundy County, the geology of cave science, and the mythology of cave lore. Tours end on The Caverns world-famous stage.
The Werner Military Museum
The Sam (“Bud”) H. Werner Military Museum showcases Mr. Werner's extensive collection of military vehicles and other artifacts. His collection encompasses items from WWI to the present. The museum is closed during the winter, but open spring, summer and fall. Check the museum’s website (“more info,” below) for current hours.
University of the South Ralston Listening Library
The state-of-the-art facility offers an unparalleled audiophile resource, housing the world-class collection of recordings of the late Father William Ralston. The Library's mission is entirely philanthropic, designed to spread a love and appreciation for great music and audio to all. Operating hours in accordance with DuPont Library hours; visitor parking available in marked space in the lot located behind the library.
Badlands Horse Camp
Badlands Horse Camp has access to over 22,000 acres of trails with scenic overlooks, waterfalls, and creeks, offering day rides for this beautiful area. You must bring your own horse. For camping, there are 15 electric hookups.
Denny Cove Trailhead

Extreme Rentals LLC
Extreme Rentals LLC is a new business in Monteagle Tennessee. We currently are renting out Kayaks and Electric Bikes. Everything is first come first serve as we have limited quantity but we are looking into expanding our rental quantity and options very soon!
Grundy County Saddle Club

Highlander Folk School
The Highlander Folk School campus was first established in 1932 in Monteagle. The school began by organizing unemployed and working people, and working toward a more just and inclusive society. It also focused on fighting segregation. The school campus is presently closed to the public, as it undergoes restoration.
Just IN Time Adventures
Nashville's First Hiking Tour Operator Authorized by TDEC and TN State Parks. Offering guided waterfall, hiking, cavern and various other outdoor adventure tours. Fees include round-trip transportation originating from the Nashville area via comfortable climate controlled mini-bus. Fully licensed and insured. A portion of sales proceeds is donated to the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation to help maintain trails and facilities.
Established in 1972 and located in an old general store, The Lemon Fair is a Sewanee landmark featuring local, handmade art alongside toys, bath & body products, jewelry, chocolates, clothing, tapestries and more! May Justus Memorial Library
May Justus was a noted author and teacher who encouraged people in this community to read. A complete collection of books by Miss Justus are maintained in the Library. The Library has public access computers, WiFi, and more.

High Point Climbing
Whether you are climbing for the first time or looking to take your skills to the next level, High Point’s experienced climbing guides can help you enjoy an incredible day outside, tailoring your experience to whatever works best for you — Traditional Climbing, Sport Climbing, Bouldering or all of the above. High Point’s climbing guide service is fully insured, and all climbing guides are American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) Single Pitch Instructors. Climbing is offered at Denny Cove and Foster Falls in South Cumberland State Park.
Little Shop on 41
A unique gift shop of handcrafted items from mostly local artists. The Little Shop is located inside Gallery 41, featuring home decor items, custom metal and wood signs, and handmade note cards. Most every item can be customized with size, shape or color.
Lost Cove West Trailhead/Buggytop Cave
There are 8 trailheads within South Cumberland State Park. At Lost Cove West, take in the cool cave known by many names — “Buggytop Cave”, “Peter Cave” and its actual name, “Lost Cove Cave”.
Midway Mushrooms is a small indoor farm, producing several varieties of oyster, shiitake, and lion’s mane mushrooms, as well as a number of rotating specialty cultivars, grown from recycled agricultural byproducts. Midway is a Certified Produce Safety Alliance farm.
Mountain Goat Trail
Old coal railroad route converted to a rail-trail, a bike and running path open to the public. From 1856 to 1985, the Mountain Goat Railroad carried coal and passengers over the Cumberland Plateau. It was called the Mountain Goat because the climb onto the Plateau was one of the steepest railroad ascents in the world.
Nature's Wealth for Your Health
Offering pastured, cage-free poultry: eggs, broilers and pullets. Animals are not given hormones or antibiotics and are raised on non-GMO grains and organic pasture. Nature's Weath also grows organic popcorn!

Savage Gulf West Trailhead/Greeter Falls

Summer Fields grows grass on which they graze rare heritage breed sheep (who produce meat and wool) and goats (meat and milk) and chickens (eggs and meat). Our animals do not receive hormones or preventative antibiotics.
Tenacity Adventure Fitness
Tenacity Adventure Fitness is a 10,000 sq-ft facility with a dedicated parkour area, cargo net climbs, rock walls, foam pits, trampolines, and several obstacles courses. Available for day use. The facility can easily accommodate larger groups seeking to have a fun-filled, unique, and memorable adventure.
The Course at Sewanee
The historic Course at Sewanee was renovated by Gil Hanse in 2013 — Golf Magazine’s 2009 Architect of the Year — who reimagined, redesigned and rebuilt all nine green complexes, added challenging new bunkers and alternate tees—while being mindful of the delicate ecosystem of the Cumberland Plateau.
The Suter Farm
The Suter Farm has been in the Suter family since 1885, part of the original settlement of the Swiss Colony of Gruetli. It retains many of the original out-buildings and the farm house which was rebuilt in 1885.
The University Farm is designed to enhance Sewanee students’ understanding of the sustainability challenges that will affect their adult lives. Featuring a large organic garden, a flock of fifty laying hens, three beehives and a herd of seven meat goat does.
War Memorial Cross
A scenic overlook and favorite picnic spot, located on the west bluff of the Sewanee domain. The 60-foot cross is a memorial to all Sewanee citizens and students who served in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and Vietnam.
